  Jose Antonio Carril was born in San Sebastian and realized his vocal studies in the Escuela Superior de Canto of Madrid. From the beginning of his artistic career it has performed with the best Spanish orchestras: National Orchestra of Spain; Symphonic of Asturias, Balearics, Bilbao, Basque Country, Madrid, Tenerife and Galicia; Philharmonic of Great Canary, Orchestra Reina Sofia, etc., performing the works most known about the symphonic repertoire coral.

Likewise he has collaborated with a high number of foreign groups and there are increasingly frequent his collaborations with sets specializing in baroque music: La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, Ricercar Consort, Le Concert des Nations, Ensemble Elyma, Capella Reial of Catalunya, etc.

He has performed in the most important Spanish concert halls (Auditorio Nacional of Madrid, Theatre Campoamor of Oviedo, Theatre Calderón of Valladolid, Principal of Valencia, Auditorium of Palma, Valencia, Santiago de Compostela, Saragossa ...), as well as in numerous European countries: France (Musical Autumn of Versailles, Festival of Colmar, Festival Bach de Saint-Donat, Atelier Lyrique of Tourcoing, Imperial Theatre of Compiègne, Festival of Baroque Music of Beaune, L'Arsenal de Metz, ...), Germany (Festival Telemann of Magdeburg, Ludwigsburger Festspiele Stuttgart ...), Russia (Conservatoire of Moscow and Philharmonic of Saint Petersburg), Poland (Chamber Opera of Warsaw), Belgium (Cirque Royal of Brussels and Printemps Baroque du Sablon), Italy, etc.

In 1994 there obtained a special mention of the jury in the International Musical Competition “Toti dal Monte” de Treviso (Italy), and in 1996 the 1 º Reward in the International Musical Competiton “Voci rossiniane and donizettiane” of Pistoia (Italy).

He has reached his major successes with the operatic repertoire from the baroque. He has interpreted under Jean-Claude Malgoire's direction the principal role of the opera Der geduldige Socrates, by Telemann, obtaining the recognition of the international critique, and Sancho Panza's role in Don Quichotte auf der Hochzeit des Camacho, by Telemann, in Tourcoing (France) and Brussels. He has intervened in two productions of the Royal Theatre of Madrid: L'Orfeo de Monteverdi conducted by Jordi Savall, and Celos aún del aire matan, by Hidalgo, conducted by Jean-Claude Malgoire, as well as in La púrpura de la rosa, by Torrejón y Velasco, conducted by Gabriel Garrido, opera that appears between his last recordings for the label K617.
