The Ensemble Andalusí de Tetuán is a typical formation of andalusian music and musical others of the different Arabic and Ottoman cultures. This formation is named Takht and is integrated by a combination of string instruments, wind and percussion that they accompany on the most valued instrument in these cultures: the voice soloist, carrier of beautiful and transcendent poetry.
The instruments that The Ensemble Andalusí uses are the most traditional: ‘Ud (Arabic lute), Nay (flute), Kemanya (violin), Kanún (Arabic zither), as melodic instruments, and the traditional percussions of the Arabic world: Derbuka, Riq and Bendir. The voice soloist brings us over to a colouring world full of subtleties and double meanings combining the mundane with the divine thing. The result of so great expression is The Tarab, or ecstasy which the listener enters on having felt the transcendent beauty that in certain moments sinks in deeply into the audience.
